I'm So Excited: Angel Olsen Goes 80s

The gift I didn’t know I needed in summer 2021 was a TOTALLY BONKERS new EP from Angel Olsen entirely consisting of 80s covers - but that is what we are getting. The five-track compilation Aisles will be dropping August 20th via her new imprint on Jagjaguwar called somethingcosmic, and Olsen is giving us a delicious taste of what’s to come with her take on the Laura Branigan track “Gloria.”

"I'd heard "Gloria" for the first time at a family Christmas gathering and was amazed at all the aunts who got up to dance," Olsen says. "I imagined them all dancing and laughing in slow motion, and that's when I got the idea to slow the entire song down and try it out in this way."

The EP also includes her takes on Billy Idol's "Eyes Without A Face," Men Without Hats' "Safety Dance," OMD's "If You Leave," and Alphaville's "Forever Young.”
